2026 Parade of Quilts -Quilt Show - Sinnissippi Quilting Guild

Special Exhibit: ROUTE 66   The featured special exhibit for our 2026 Quilt Show comes from the Bits n Pieces Quilt Guild in Baldwin, MO.  From their Art Quilt Project and is their version of “Drive Down Route 66”.  So buckle your seat belt and rev your engine for an exciting ride down the Mother Road!!  It features 66 individual 24”x24” pieces each depicting a different location or attraction from all 8 states from Illinois to California, representing the beginning, middle, end, and birthplace.

Our Raffle Quilt: In My Garden by Kelli Saffell.  This Quilt is an original collection of beautiful Birds, Baskets, and Blossoms to make it a Garden Paradise!! It is set in 12 blocks with a beautiful mix of Applique and Piecing and finished is approximately 76” x 88”.  The blocks we constructed by a past member of our guild Lily Rude, and assembled and quilted by the members of our guild. 

 Display and Bed Turning: Ruby Short McKim

Ruby McKim was an American Quilt Designer, Art Teacher, Writer, Magazine Editor, Wife, and Mother of 2.  She was born in Millersburg, IL on July 27, 1891 and died July 26, 1976, at the age of 85.    She was inducted into the Quilter’s Hall of Fame in 2002.  She graduated from the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts in 1912.  She was a nationally known top quilt designer of the 1920’s.

Her only book was published in 1931, 101 Patchwork Patterns.  She was an editor of the magazine Doll Talk where she then published a few more of her patterns.

She died in a nursing home in Independence, MO in 1976.

She had two personal motto’s:  “If you don’t feel good, Put on your company face and keep going.” And “You only fail when  you don’t try.”
